Working on being a Big Sister

We are trying our best to prepare Hayden for the fact that she is going to be a big sister and maybe not get all the attention she is used to. While it is really hard to do, we have a few things going for us. First, there is a 4 month old baby at Hayden's daycare now so she is learning how to not touch her face, be gentle, and only kiss her feet. Every time we are out and she hears a baby crying she gets very concerned and says "awww poor baby".

Now she takes all her "babies" sets them up on the couch and takes turns feeding them, burping them, and then putting them night night. It is so cute! I know she will never fully understand, but she will for sure be a great helper.

Part two of becoming a big sister, is giving up the binki and bottle! On August 26th Hayden woke up without a binki and made it through the whole night for the first time without it. Since then, we haven't went back we even made it though our whole camping trip without a binki. Napping has become a little less frequent and she is not as cheerful when she wakes up (see below) but we are dealing with that. The bottle on the other hand is proving to be more difficult. Hayden will drink out of a sippy everything but milk, she will only take milk from a bottle. We decided to take a break from that change and see if we can work on that later!

Part three of becoming a big sister is potty training!! We are not seriously trying but I bought her a potty so she can get used to the idea even though I think she would take to it if we had the time to work with her. She normally comes and tells us right after she messes her diaper and asked to be changed. We started putting her on it at bath time just for fun, and the first night she screamed when I took her off and put her in the tub. She screamed potty, potty, and tried to climb out of the tub...while I was ignoring her...she pooped in the tub. First time ever she pooped in the tub. I am not sure if she really knew...or it was just a coincidence. Either way, I hope when we are all ready for that adventure that she takes to it easily!
