Welcome Olivia Kaye

I know, I know, I am way behind on blogging but I have been busy! Olivia Kaye was born December 16th 2009 at 11:21 pm which just so happened to be my due date. I know I didn't blog much about the pregnancy and how things were going, so I will just try to give you the short version now. It was terrible! I was sick a lot, and tired all of the time. Being pregnant and keeping up with a 1 1/2 year old is not fun. For the first 5 months I threw up a lot, then once I got over that I got 3 sinus infections in the next 4 months...that was not fun either. I stopped working right before Thanksgiving and the doctor had told me that I was 2 cm and 100% thinned and that my water could break at any time. I was only 36 weeks so I wanted to try to hold off until at least after Thanksgiving so the doctor put me on bed rest. The day after Thanksgiving Hayden ended up sick, the next day so did I and by Monday I had a full sinus infection again. Needless to say I ended up staying in bed another week. After I was all better and ready to have the baby, we went to the doctor and she had changed positions and although she tried to break my water she could no longer reach it. It was a long 2 weeks and I tried everything to get things going but had no luck.

Finally on my due date we had a doctors appointment at 4:00. I had been having some cramps so I told Scott I didn't think we would have to wait much longer. On the way to the doctor my cramps started getting a little worse and when they took my blood pressure it was high, then she went to check me and I was 5 cm. Yes 5 cm! They sent us directly to the hospital and we got there at 5:00. They checked my blood pressure and it was even higher 140/108 which is apparently really bad so they said I needed to calm down and that if it didn't go down I would have to have an emergency c-section. The doctor recommended an epidural (which I didn't have with Hayden) and said it might calm me down and if it didn't then at least I would be ready for a c-section if I needed one. He broke my water and I started having contractions and my blood pressure started going higher so I decided to get the epidural, boy am I glad I did. After that I felt nothing and my blood pressure went back to normal. By 7:00 I was 7 cm, by 9 I was fully dilated but there were other women further along than me and I had an epidural and was completely numb so I waited it out, took a nap and at 11:21 pm after 3 pushes 2.0 was finally born and we had yet to decide on a name.

She was 8 lbs even and 20.5 inches long. They used the wrong weight when they gave me epidural and a bunch of other junk so both Olivia and I were swollen!

It didn't take long for the swelling to go down.
It wasn't until the next day that our beautiful baby had a name. My whole pregnancy I wanted to name her Maycee and Scott wanted to name her Olivia. Needless to say neither one of us wanted to give in so before she was born we agreed that if she was born with lots of dark hair we would name her Olivia and if she had little hair like Hayden it would be Maycee. So of course when she was born she had ton of black hair but I still wasn't willing to budge. I was holding out filling out the birth certificate until the last possible moment and told Scott I just wasn't sure about Olivia, I needed a sign. The next morning the nurse came in and wrote her and the other nurses name on the board and said "my names Leah and your other nurse is Olivia", I about died. Not long after this cute little nurse came in and picked up 2.0 and started eeewwing and ahhhing over her and said she was the cutest baby on the floor. She then said "my name is Olivia and I will be at your beckon call today". After that I knew, 2.0 was to be named Olivia. Kaye is my middle name and regardless of her first name her middle name was always going to be Kaye. That was an easy choice.
Finally at home, Hayden slept in this same Moses basket only she was much smaller and it lasted about a month. Olivia only slept in it a week!
Because of the H1N1 outbreak the hospital was very strict on visitors so Hayden (and many others) didn't get to meet Olivia until we got home. As you can see Hayden was instantly in love with her new baby sissy "Owibia". She is the best helper and thinks Olivia is one of her baby dolls and wants to hold her, change her, feed her snacks, and give lots of hugs and kisses!

She is soooo cute and adorable. I love the picture of Hayden kissing her. After all the crappy pregnancy it is so worth it.
