Back to work I go....Boooooo

I started back at work last week :( . So I have so much to blog about. First my new doo.

This is me and Hayden in the backyard on our last day playing before I went back to work, notice the new short cut and the lighter color. For the last year I had grown my hair long and neglected the color because I just put it up in a pony tail everyday. Not anymore, now I have to use the blow dryer! The less hair the better.

Second, the top three questions I am asked at work. Somehow they are always in this order, I will answer them for you too just in case you were wondering the same thing.

1. Where's the baby? I am not sure if people realize that I am back full time and not just visiting so they ask where the baby is. I started telling people that I have her hidden under my desk until we open a day care center, don't tell Charlie (Charlie is my bosses boss). Then I say she is with the babysitter and it dawns on them I am actually working and I didn't quit like many of the women who go out on maternity leave do.

2. Who's watching her? Scott's Mom lives with Charlie and Norma, Scott has known them his whole life and grew up with their kids. Norma doesn't work and takes care of Hayden for us. It is good because they just live a few blocks from us and it is on the way to work for both of us and she is very flexible for our crazy schedules.

3. Are you OK? For sure I would rather be at home with Hayden instead of getting up at 5 and going to work everyday. However I am very grateful that Hayden is in a place where she is loved to death and spoiled rotten. I don't drop her off in the morning because I would never make it to work on time, but Scott says as soon as Hayden hears Norma's voice she gets excited and smiles real big. That makes it a little easier.

Third, why I will never quit my job!

My company is ridiculous and lets people get away with the craziest stuff. I've decided anybody who leaves is a moron. I am pumping breast milk for Hayden. California law requires that companies have a secure and private place for mom's to pump at work, and this does not include the restroom. So we have an awesome lactation room with a hospital grade pump for our use. There is also a leather recliner, a fridge, radio, mood lighting and it is in the very back corner of the building where nobody goes. Oh yeah, and most important a lock that has a vacant/occupied window on the door so you can have privacy and not worry about someone barging in or knocking on the door. Well people around the office have found out about this awesome room and started taking naps there during the day, while they are at work. And not just little 20 minute naps, 1 - 2 hour naps. My first two days back I couldn't get in the room because every time I went to use it, it was occupied. I complained to our Nurse and was told they would find me another place to pump because they don't want to tell people that the room is intended for moms and not for people to nap.

What company let's their people nap during the day and doesn't want to ruffle any feathers by telling them they can't? Not only that, who naps at work? This is just one example of why I would be crazy to quit. I probably could hide Hayden under my desk and take her to the "nap room" and nap with her and nobody would say anything about it as long as I showed up on time and everyone still gets paid on time (I work in payroll)!

Last, here is my current favorite picture of Hayden. I have it all over my cube at work and on my screen saver. She is just the happiest baby and I think this picture captures it.

Ah that is SO cute!!! I love baby smiles. Sounds like everything is going great at work. I always joked that Brecken would fit in a backpack and what is one more child in a class of 23, especially one who sleeps all day.
PS I love the cut/color, I always toy with the idea of cutting all my hair off...maybe after a few more kids :)

Super cute hair! Good Luck back at work. I don't know how all you working moms do it. I can't handle being a good mom and I am home all day!!!
