Lake Tahoe 2011

Okay, so I know we take a lot of family vacations this was our real family vacation for the year. We took the motor home and made the 8 hour drive to Lake Tahoe and stayed for 5 days. To be quite honest...this is not a vacation for me (or Scott because he has to do all the work) but the girls love it so much, it makes it all worth it in the end. Lake Tahoe is the most beautiful place (besides Utah) that we have ever vacationed. The weather was a perfect sunny 80 degrees yet there was still snow on the ground and there were tons of things to do and keep us entertained!

Our campsite!

Have I mentioned we got a new camera? I love it because you can capture moments like this...when you tell Hayden NO and she has a complete meltdown!

Across the street from the campground is the lake, it is gorgeous and the snow on the mountains makes it even more beautiful.

The Tiana boat (from Princess and the Frog) well not really but that's what Hayden called it. She wanted to go on it so bad but we didn't get to.
The beach, Hayden loved playing in the water and sand. Olivia not so much. She didn't even want her feet/shoes to touch it so she ended up sitting in my lap the entire time.

One day we drove around to the other side of the lake to see the waterfalls. I was so happy we got a good picture of the four of us!

Funny story, me and Hayden climbed this giant rock so Scott could take our picture. Then he tried to climb up holding Olivia and he slipped and fell, did a somersault, scrapped his knee, and hurt his shoulder but Olivia managed to only get one tiny scrap on her forehead. Thank goodness, no trips to the ER while on vacation please!

OMG, I love this girl and her kisses! She is such a snugly love bug!

We went from one extreme to the other. There was a gondola ride that took you up to the top of the mountain to the ski resort which still happens to be covered in snow it was amazing and awesome. I am so glad we did it.

Even though it was 80 degrees outside the snow was still in tact, I mean it wasn't slushy or wet at all. There were even snowmen that people had built still standing.

I did not wear proper shoe attire for the snow, and Olivia was not having it. She screamed the entire time even though I carried her but freaked every time I attempted to put her down. I had to keep apologizing to people who were looking at me like I was murdering her and say we are from California and never seen snow.

This was the view from the top of the mountain. GORGEOUS!!

This was the closest Olivia got to the snow and she was not happy about it! But at least I got a picture of them!

She was much happier back at the campground riding her bike!

Hayden too! The campground had lots of hills and Hayden liked to pedal real fast and lift her feet and fly down the hill. Because of that we can no longer find this bike. Scott told Hayden a bear got it but I am guessing it was him!

We brought our slide too so the girls had plenty to keep them busy!

Yum, marshmallows. It was too hot for a campfire but we tried anyway when it was still light out so the girls could roast mallows!

Olivia's first Smore.

The next day we rented a boat and boated around the lake. The girls were patiently waiting for everyone else to get ready so we could go!

Believe it or not, Olivia fell asleep within 5 minutes of being on the boat!

But woke up in time to cruise through the keys which are million dollar houses on the lake. Awe, aren't they cute!

Perfect view!

What's with that look? I guess she doesn't understand any titanic references quite yet!

Our friends Luke and Renee came with their baby Dylan...can I just say we are some brave Momma's for sitting in the back of the boat while it was going 50 mph screaming through the lake bouncing us and the kids all over the place!

We went to this island where there is a Vikings House, I am not sure why it is called that but there is a little cove with this house that a lady lived in in the early 1900's. She was the first person to live on the lake, you see that little island out there. At the top of it is a tea room, she used to have her people row her out every afternoon to the island and take her to the top so she could have her tea. Very interesting!

Momma's girl...have I mentioned that Olivia doesn't like anything? She is like me in that way where we don't like to be outside of our comfort zone. Makes for extra cuddles and kisses though!

There goes the Tiana boat, Hayden was so sad we didn't ride it.

We had an amazing time, if it wasn't for the long drive I would want to go there all the time but I guess we are going to have to stick to once a year for now. I don't think I could go in winter. I am happy to be in the snow when its 80 degree's but anything less than that I am not sure I would make it!
